depression and sugar are linked

Depression, or just a general sense of malaise, could be due to the eating of Sugar. I recommend reducing or altogether avoiding most sugars. I highly recommend reading the book Sugar Blues by William Dufty. If removing sugar from your diet isn’t a priority yet, it will be after reading this history of the introduction of sugar and gradual downfall of every great civilization. Sugar consumption often causes yeast infections in the intestines, disrupts calcium metabolism, weakens the adrenals, aggravates blood sugar imbalances, increases infections and causes other problems. If you need to satisfy a sweet tooth, use:

  • Stevia is great in cold beverages

  • Uncooked honey (occasional use only)

  • Pure uncooked maple syrup (occasional use only)

  • Unrefined cane sugar (occasional use only)

  • Xylitol

  • Mannitol

Avoid NutraSweet, aspartame, Equal, Splenda or saccharine as these are toxic. Also reduce all fruits to a maximum of one piece of juicy fruit daily or a few berries as an occasional snack or dessert. Fruits have fructose in them, and the only way the body can process fructose out is through the liver. Usually the fructose end up as a form of estrogen which gets deposited right on the belly. I keep hearing that's undesirable. :)
